Unideck™ IFR in stainless steel

Internal floating roof of skin and pontoon type

HMT's stainless steel Unideck is a corrosion-resistant internal floating roof that has been protecting stored liquid products in aboveground storage tanks for over 40 years. The construction is made of corrosion-resistant stainless steel and is an excellent choice for products that are normally aggressive to aluminium or carbon steel.

Advantages of the programme

  • Excellent product compatibility
The stainless steel Unideck is ideal for stored products with high corrosivity.
  • Quick and simple installation
The Unideck design allows for quick and repeatable assembly. All components fit through a standard manhole.

Construction details

  • Reinforced pontoon ends
Unideck pontoons are fitted with reinforced struts and end caps to ensure that loads are correctly transferred to the supporting structure during lay-up without jeopardising the integrity of the pontoons.
  • Maximum 1 524 mm wide deck plate to maintain structural rigidity
Some manufacturers try to reduce costs by using wider sheets and thus fewer beams, which leads to a very unstable floating roof that can only withstand very limited operating conditions. Unideck uses deck plates with a maximum width of 1 524 mm and therefore a maximum beam spacing of 1 448 mm centre-to-centre. This ensures sufficient structural strength during operation, as well as good stiffness and walkability during maintenance and inspection.
