Profiles, lamella packs and housing for droplet separation

Droplet separators made of profiles/lamellas are used in processes with large air or gas flows and when the pressure drop needs to be minimised. The separation efficiency is high and the droplet separators are available for both vertical and horizontal gas flow.

Commonly used profiles are Munters' DV270 for vertical gas flow and DH2100 for horizontal gas flow, and RVT's RV271 and RV400 for vertical flow and RH100 for horizontal flow.

Typical applications include gas scrubbing, flue gas condensation, absorption, gas cooling and sulphur removal.

Type of profile selected is based on unique process parameters and process conditions. The profiles are then assembled at a certain distance, creating a complete droplet separation unit optimised for the specific process.

Vertical or horizontal droplet separation

Our range of profiles is divided into 'Profiles for vertical gas flow' and 'Profiles for horizontal gas flow' and a selection of products is listed under the 'Product range' tab.

Vertical gas flow

Liquid is drained in the opposite direction to the gas flow.

Horizontal gas flow

Liquid is drained perpendicular to the gas flow direction.

Profile design

Each type of profile has a unique design regarding number of bends, angle of the bend, with or without hooks, and the design of the hooks.

Some vertical flow profiles are also available with upside-down V-shaped channels for controlled and more efficient drainage.

Choice of material

Choice of material depends on the temperature and composition of the gas stream, among other things. Profiles are manufactured in a variety of materials in different types of plastic or metal:

  • Polyethylene (PE), talcum reinforced polypropylene (PPTV), polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF).
  • Stainless steel, carbon steel, nickel-based alloys, titanium
  • Other special materials on request

Scope of supply

Our scope of supply varies depending on type of project:

  • individual profiles - which the customer then assembles into droplet separators
  • profile segments when put together form a complete droplet separator - segments are delivered ready for installation.
  • profile segments, frame and basic engineering - delivery for installation in housing
  • complete delivery of droplet separator and housing

Profiles for vertical gas flow

Below is a selection of vertical gas flow profiles from Munters and RVT Process Equipment. Please contact us for more information.

DV270

Standard profile with high separation efficiency and low pressure drop.

More information

RV271

An upgraded version of the RV200 with V-shaped channels for controlled and more efficient drainage. Gas velocity range 2.5 - 4.5 m/s.

RV200

Standard profile with high separation efficiency and very low impact on pressure drop. Gas flow velocity range 2.5 - 4.2 m/s.

RV350

Improved separation efficiency through diametrically opposed hooks. We can vary the pitch on all models.

RV400

Very low risk of clogging if particals are present in the gas flow. Easy to clean. Many possible applications due to varying lengths and distances between profiles. Gas velocity range 2.5 - 4.2 m/s.

Profiles for horizontal gas flow

Below is a selection of horizontal gas flow profiles from Munters and RVT Process Equipment. Please contact us for more information.

DH2100

Can handle a wide range of gas flow rates and has a very low pressure drop. High separation efficiency with low risk of clogging if particals are present in the gas flow.

RH100

Can handle a wide range of gas flow rates and has a very low pressure drop. High separation efficiency with low risk of clogging if particals are present in the gas flow. Speed range 3 - 6 m/s.

RH50X

Variable number of bends (i.e. number of times the profile forces the gas to change direction) and phase separation chambers. Gas velocity range 5 - 9 m/s.

RH60X

Variable number of bends (i.e. number of times the profile forces the gas to change direction) and phase separation chambers. Gas velocity range 5 - 9 m/s.

Checklist important parameters

In order to offer an effective and sustainable solution, below are a number of process parameters that are important to consider when selecting and designing a droplet separator.

Sometimes it is difficult or even impossible to obtain information and data regarding the specific process. Together with our suppliers, we have extensive experience and we can make sound assumptions as a basis for designing the best solution for the process.
