HMT Econo-Flex Secondary Seal is one of the most economical and efficient types of secondary seals on the market. It is easy to install and maintain and has been developed based on the strict gap requirements for secondary seals set by authorities throughout the US, including the BAAQMD in Northern California with their “zero-gap” requirements.

For a secondary seal that is tailored to fit specific tank deviations, has exceptional sealing ability, can be installed during operation and has a long service life, Econo-Flex is the optimal choice.

Construction details

Hardened steel pressure components
Specially hardened steel does not fatigue over time, maintains the correct sealing pressure against the tank shell and prevents leakage throughout the life of the seal.

Continuous vapour barrier under compression plates
Econo-Flex uses a continuous fabric vapour barrier under the compression plates, providing much better seal integrity than systems that rely on gaskets between plates.

Narrow compression plates
The narrow plates provide excellent flexibility and adaptation to tank shell deviations, while reducing wear on the scraper tip compared to wider plates that concentrate pressure at the joints and cause uneven wear.

Top-class vapour barriers
Premium fabrics ensure optimal product compatibility and long service life, including flame retardant PTFE according to DIN 22118. HMT offers several fabric options depending on operational requirements. Our standard PTFE weaves are laminated and superior in terms of durability, impermeability and service life. The fabrics can handle even the most demanding operating conditions very well.

Adapted to the tank
Every tank shell is unique and it is critical that seals are designed to address specific edge spaces. HMT's engineering and automated manufacturing allows each seal to be manufactured exactly to the customer's edge space and/or verticality data, ensuring optimum performance and minimising the risk of operational issues over time.
