ALLENTECH Secondary Shoe Seal

Customised to your design

ALLENTECH's stainless steel secondary mechanical bulkhead seal for aluminium internal floating roofs is made of high strength materials and is designed to outperform other internal IFR secondary seals. The closely spaced arch springs exert an almost constant pressure against the tank shell, ensuring sealing even around sharp vertical seams and sudden deformations in the tank.

The secondary shoe seal utilises PTFE fabric and Type 301 fully hardened stainless steel arch springs for excellent durability, even pressure distribution and robust chemical compatibility.

Advantages of the programme

  • High durability
Long service life thanks to fully hardened Type 301 stainless steel pressure mechanisms.
  • Light weight
Specially designed for aluminium internal floating roofs (IFR).
  • Excellent compatibility
Stainless steel and PTFE components are compatible with almost all stored products.
  • Even pressure / Gap sealing
The arch springs apply even pressure to the bucket lid through continuous contact, ensuring a gap-free seal.

Construction details

No elastomer tip
Maximises durability and longevity.

Stainless steel shoes, aluminium hangers and brackets
Compatible with most products. Fasteners in corrosion-resistant stainless steel and aluminium.

Patented stainless steel arch springs
Provides maximum shoe movement without variation in spring pressure. The springs press against the shoes along a long line, eliminating point contact and wear.

Lightweight and flexible design
Most IFRs can be retrofitted with an ALLENTECH primary or dual shoe system.

The arch springs are bolted on both shoes and IFR
Provides positive static connection every two feet below the liquid level (primary) and above the vapour space (secondary).

Stainless steel pins welded to shoes
No through holes that can cause corrosion and increase friction against the tank shell.
