ALLENTECH HC Full Contact Floating Roof

Designed for safety and longevity

The Allentech HC Full Contact IFR is a premium Honeycomb Full Contact Aluminium IFR.

Allentech HC is designed in accordance with API 650 and EN 14015, with a minimum flotation ratio of 2 times the dead load of the roof plus the friction force from peripheral seals, calculated with a minimum drag coefficient of 4.6 kg/m. The roof can float even when two adjacent flotation sections are flooded. The buoyancy is based on a specific gravity of 0,7 or the stored product, whichever is lower.

The panel modules are 1.524 m x 3.048 m x 38.1 mm deep. The rim modules are designed to match the radius of the tank. Each sandwich module consists of a top and bottom layer of aluminium sheet 1.27 mm thick with an internal honeycomb structure for rigidity. A high-quality aluminium profile forms a frame around the sheet and honeycomb, which is fully sealed and welded into a fully enclosed float compartment.

Each module contains a resealable port for vapour detection, for pressure testing at the factory and for future testing during out-of-service maintenance. Damaged panels already installed can be easily replaced for future maintenance. Each module is inspected and pressure tested with helium leak test equipment before delivery.

The hook and pin design of the modules allows for quick installation and creates a high strength joint with extremely low emission losses at joints.

Advantages of the programme

  • Eliminates vapour space
Removes the vapour space under the floating roof.
  • Maintenance-free lifetime
Independent laboratory tests show that our hook and pin joint produces a splice almost as effective as a welded one.
  • Buoyancy
HC Full contact IFR with medium diameter gives 350 % excess buoyancy.
  • Thickness
The metal layers are 2.5 times the API minimum thickness.
  • Eliminates product compatibility issues
Installation of the Allentech shoe seal (standard equipment) on the HC Full Contact IFR eliminates compatibility issues with the product.
  • Reduced vapour losses
Further reduction of vapour loss can be achieved with our cable suspension system.
  • Maximum strength and vapour tightness
The hook and pin joint provides maximum strength and vapour seal. Independent laboratory tests show it is 16 times more effective than the U.S. EPA standard factor.
  • Reduced splice loss
By using the optional welded module-to-module splice, splice losses can be reduced to zero.

Construction details

All edge seals and grommets are welded
Removes glue joints and potential leaks. Maximises strength with minimal deformation. Positive electrical conduction.

Pressure-tested modules in the factory
Proof of sealed modules to the workplace. Maximum quality control.

25.4 mm Hex Cell perforated core
Allows field testing of all modules before maintenance and hot work. Allows welding and pressure testing of all modules.

Test plugs in all modules
Field testing eliminates guesswork during maintenance. Provides peace of mind in hot work, as every module tested is vapour free.

No field production
Maintains top quality and reduces costs. No cutting or gluing on site required.

Top layer and bottom layer 1.27 mm thick
Selected for puncture resistance, corrosion resistance, durability, strength and weldability.

Module size: 1.524 m x 3.048 m
Easy to install and maintain, low cost per module.

Stainless steel fasteners, aluminium nuts
Selected for strength, reliability and corrosion resistance.

Module-to-module joints in Hook and Pin design
Maximises strength, stiffness and durability. Easy to maintain and inspect. Minimises emission losses at joints.
