Imhof tank seals for floating roofs
Imhof Tank-Technik's patented tank seals for open and closed floating roof tanks achieve an emission reduction of up to 99.5 - 99.8%.
Imhof Tank-Technik GmbH is a European leader of manufacturing, installing and developing tank seals for stored products in tanks. The product range includes single, double and triple seals.
Together with Imhof Tank-Technik, we offer a complete solution - design, manufacture and installation, as well as installation managers, if required.
Floating roof seals for open tanks
Highly efficient and high quality seals for floating roofs in open tanks. Ensure optimal utilisation of the tank.
Water-repellent seal for open tanks
Prevents rainwater from running down the inside wall of open tanks, contaminating stored product.
Floating roof seals for closed cisterns
Highly efficient seals for floating roofs in closed tanks. Ensure optimal utilisation of the tank.
Seals for guide poles and roof supports
Reduce emission at guide poles and roof supports, and prevent rainwater from entering the cistern.
Wax scraper for crude oil cisterns
Prevents wax build-up on the cistern wall and floating roof.
Choose the right tank storage equipment for increased safety and reduced environmental impact
Each cistern is unique and tank storage equipment needs to be customised to achieve the most effective solution. To develop an environmentally friendly, safe and sustainable solution, there are a number of factors that affect the choice of product and type of solution.
- Is it an open or closed cistern?Read the full answer
A major difference between an open and a closed cistern is the actual tank construction, and how it is affected by wind, rain and snow.
- Is the tank completely round or slightly deformed?Read the full answer
Apart from the question if the tank is completely round or slightly deformed, it is important to know whether the tank wall is an 'overlap' construction or has an even surface.
- What type of product is stored in the tank today? Future stored product?Read the full answer
A very important question is what type of product is stored in the tank and if there is a possibility that another type of product will be stored in the future. The type of stored product is absolutely crucial when it comes to choosing the type of sealing solution and sealing material, as well as ...
- How can external factors such as rain, snow and wind affect the tank?Read the full answer
External factors such as rain, snow and wind can affect the tank and this needs to be taken into account in order to select the right type of external floating roof seal and work out the correct dimensions. For example, strong winds in coastal areas ...
- What is the objective of replacing the tank storage equipment?Read the full answer
The reasons for changing the tank storage equipment is important to know in order to ensure that the most optimal solution and the right type of product is supplied. Improved efficiency, i.e. reduced emissions, leads to less environmental impact but also reduced loss of product, which means lower costs. ...
- What other factors may be important when changing tank storage equipment?Read the full answer
Other factors to consider when replacing tank storage equipment may include: Timeframe for emptying and any repair work on the existing tank Manufacturing and delivery time Installation - How much time is estimated for installation? Is an on-site supervisor required? The sealing solution has a ...
Focusing on reduced emmission and increased safety when designing and installing tank seals and floating roofs
To achieve maximum reduction of emissions and the highest possible safety for personnel and the environment, it is important that the tank seal and floating roof fulfil a number of key criteria.
Design and construction
- Effective reduction of emissions by choosing the right type of seal, material and construction
- Maximise the total amount of product stored, by designing the seal and floating roof with as low total height as possible
- Ensure good centring of the floating roof
- Effectively drain rainwater or effectively remove wax from the tank wall
- The sealing material needs to be compatible with the stored product, withstand temperature changes and movements of the floating roof. The metal parts of the seal need to be earthed and the non-metallic components need to be anti-static.
- Corrosion-resistant materials
- Long operating life, with easy and cost-effective maintenance
Safety
- Sufficient space to safely perform inspections, etc.
- Ensure that the tank does not contain gas after emptying
- Facilitate fire fighting
- Comply with all applicable safety requirements and legislation
Innovative technology - Water-repellent seal for open tanks
Imhof's water-repellent seals achieve 50-100 times better water repellency compared to standard seals.
A water-repellent seal prevents rainwater from running down the inner wall of open tanks, which would otherwise contaminate the product and lead to corrosion at the bottom of the tank.
Open tanks filled with petrolium, E85, jet fuel, MTBE, alcohol, naphtha, etc. do not need to be fitted with a roof, if a water-repellent seal is installed.
